James L. Simpson was born on October 11,
1940 in Booth, Texas to Charlie and Lillie Simpson. James was
one of three children born to this union. He was called home
to be with Jesus Christ on Monday, February 21, 2005.
James graduated from A.W. Jackson High
School in Booth, Texas, after which he went on to attend Prairie
View A.&M. University where he received hsi bachelor's of Science
Degree in Agricultural Education in 1963: He held Certified
Life Membership with their National Alumni Association He
joined the United States Army in October of 1963 where he served in
active duty for 2 years. He moved to Jasper, Texas in 1967
where he met and married Carolyn Johnson on February 28, 1970 and to
their union two children were born, Les Jamal and Talya Jamika.
During this time, he served for 22 years as the Agricultural
Management Specialist for Farmers Home Administration, a division of
the U.S. Department of Agriculture and 11 years in the Windham
School System as the Construction Design and Maintenance Teacher
with the Hodge Unit.
James accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord
and Savior at an early age. He moved his family to Palestine,
Texas in early 1970 and joined South Union Missionary Baptist Church
where he faithfully served his church and community. As a
member of South Union Missionary Baptist Church he was an active
Chairman of the Budget Committee and served as Deacon while
participating in both male chorus and sanctuary choirs. As an
active member of his community, one of his many contributions was
serving several years as the city Councilman for the City of
Palestine.
His father, Charlie Simpson, paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Simpson and maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jackson
preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving
wife of 34 years, Carolyn Simpson; one son and daughter-in-law, les
and Jennifer Simpson of Frisco, Texas; one daughter, Talya Simpson
of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Sydney-Aerin and Peyton
Simpson; his mother, Lillie Simpson of Richmond, Texas; one brother
and sister-in-law, Robert and Jewel Simpson, sr. of Missouri City,
Texas; one sister, Erma Kiser of Sugarland, Texas; one aunt, Thelma
Heard of Crab, Texas; in-laws, Cerestra and Troy Woods of Dallas,
Texas, Matry and Gene Sanders of Desoto, Texas, Nola Brown of
Redlands, California, J.L. and Christine Johnson of Mt. Enterprise,
Texas and a very special niece, Cheryl Greenleaf of Richmond, Texas.
He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to
cherish his loving memory.
James will be greatly missed by all but
will remain in our hearts forever. |
